European impact

Despite that fact that Europe's scientific community is highly considered by international colleagues, and that the output in terms of publications confirms its competitive position, these facts are not reflected in the capacity of European scientists to turn the research results into competitive advantage for its industry as seen by the low number of patents, start-ups, and its limited capacity to build high tech companies particularly in Information and Communication Technologies.

CREATE-NET aims to promote European research by bringing together key actors in order to generate the critical mass needed to make that research incisive and visible. By applying this to those groups carrying out quality research we can provide the 'fission' necessary to accelerate its impact at an international level.

CREATE-NET provides specific research management competencies and tools to support start-up processes, patent registration procedures, IP management in general, as well as innovative techniques, all enabled by emerging information and communication technologies developed internally, for effective research collaboration, such as integrated IP tools and virtual reality. CREATE-NET has built a close network of researchers and research institutions that also spans industry thereby supporting technology transfer not only from a methodological point of view, but also in terms of practical industry contacts and technology transfer.

International impact:

By setting up CREATE-NET affiliated organizations across the globe we intend to become a network of world-wide multi-institution centers conducting collaborative, multi-disciplinary research and development, and working together, to promote the 'globalization of research with localized impact on business and the economy'.

Globally CREATE-NET will bring integration in two dimensions.
Each CREATE-NET center will vertically integrate producers and consumers of research by bringing together the top education institutions, corporations and research actors in any given region. This facilitates and speeds up the technology transfer process from research into production enriching the local economic environment.
In addition, the CREATE-NET alliance will horizontally integrate the activities of its regional CREATE-NET affiliates across the globe providing world-wide leverage of shared resources to member institutions.
