It is my privilege to welcome you to CREATE-NET and the global research network.

CREATE-NET is an International Research Consortium that brings together some of the best Research groups in all areas of networking and communications in Europe and beyond.
Our objective is to create a collaborative environment that gives rise to original research ideas, allows researchers around the world to cooperate on research and experimentation, creates a link to industry and serves as a successful vehicle for technology transfer. We address research issues in computer networks, telecommunications, security, applications and services challenges with experimentation on a unique real-life test-bed to bring the advances in these areas to the service of the community. In our role as catalyst for research collaboration supported by experimentation, we investigate novel ideas, build systems and test them in operational environments.

We facilitate information exchange and collaboration through our conference, seminars and workshop events, as:

• enablers for the growth of the Information and Communication Society that can benefit from the advances in communication technologies and practices;
• developers of efficient, reliable, secure and trusted control protocols and technologies for the emerging ubiquitous global network integrating all relevant research disciplines;
• testing ground for new services, applications and operators of an open test-bed for networked communities;
• partners to industries for transforming advanced technologies to new businesses models and opportunities;

We see our mission as working in the service of the research society and of the citizen of the future society, where new ideas and technologies can be fully utilized to serve the community.

Together with active government and industry participation, we believe that CREATE-NET can play an important role in successfully bringing together researchers, providers, communities and users to develop the next generation network services and infrastructures, the cornerstone for building the Networked Society of the Future.
