Andrey Somov received the Honours B.S and M.S. degrees from Moscow Aviation Technological University, Russia, and PhD degree from the University of Trento, Italy, in 2004, 2006, and 2009, respectively, all in Electronic Engineering. Before starting his PhD he worked as an electronics engineer in space technology from 2004 to 2006 at the All-Russia Research Institute of Electromechanics (VNIIEM), the oldest company of the Russian Federal Space Agency specialized in satellite design and manufacturing. In the fall 2008 Andrey was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, USA (Berkeley Wireless Research Center), where he conducted the research in Powering Wireless Brain-machine Interfaces. During his PhD course Andrey won the best demo prize in the context of Future Energy-efficient Architectures at the Second Nanotechnology Forum in 2009, Moscow, Russia, and a grant from foundation CARITRO, Italy, for his research work in Power Management and Power Consumption Optimization Techniques in Wireless Sensor Networks. Dr. Somov joined CREATE-NET, Italy, in April 2010 as a post-doctoral researcher. His work at CREATE-NET is focused on wireless communications, cognitive radio, and experimental cognitive radio test-bed validation and testing. |
